About Friends of Italy
Credo:
Friends of Italy is dedicated to
preserving and promoting the Italian
culture through Italian language
classes, gourmet catered events,
and culinary workshops.
Language courses are currently
being offered in Lafayette, Berwick,
Thibodaux and New Orleans.
Students learn basic, conversational
Italian in six weeks, and classes are two hours each, once a week. Students who have completed the first course go on to the intermediate level, then to the advanced level. Students can take the courses for as long as they wish.
The courses are easy to understand and offered in a friendly, interactive atmosphere. Class size is small, allowing for individualized attention and more interaction. Students have responded well to the non-rigid atmosphere, enhanced with the instructor’s comical stories from his 13 years spent in Italy.
Friends of Italy is also involved in culinary workshops, offered to give students information on Italian herbs and spices, olive oil, parmeggiano-reggiano cheese, pasta, and cooking tips/helpful hints. Students will learn how to prepare 8-10 Italian meals – those most authentic in Italy and prepared the way Italians prepare them.
This afternoon of food and fun will
allow for the sharing of ideas and
information and teach students the
basics of Italian cuisine. They will
be introduced to the Italian products
and their importance in the Italian
kitchen.
Students will leave with recipes in
hand ready to prepare authentic Italian
meals.
